LEGENDARY HOUSES

After watching Paris is Burning, I was deeply moved by the stories, resilience, and brilliance of the Black and Latin LGBTQIAP+ community that shaped the ballroom scene in 80s New York. The film made it clear to me: these stories deserve to be told — not just told, but honored with the beauty, care, and visual excellence they command.

This project was born from that realization. I set out to create a visual tribute to three of the most iconic houses in ballroom history — House of Ninja, House of LaBeija, and House of Extravaganza — whose stories, members, and legacies resonated with me on a personal level.

Each poster is a love letter in form and color — an attempt to translate the identity, attitude, and spirit of each house into a cohesive visual series. Inspired by legacy, power, and self-expression, this is a celebration of chosen families, cultural resistance, and the radical artistry that defined a generation.

Dedicated to all LGBTQIAP+ Community, in special Venus Xtravaganza, who dared to dream beyond what the world allowed.  May your light keep guiding every soul that longs to be seen, to be loved and to live as boldly as they are.



HOUSE OF NINJA

Inspired by the precision and fluidity of their signature vogue. Throughout the process, I also explored the creative possibilities of AI-generated imagery to enrich the conceptual depth and visual texture of the project. The resulting posters capture the swift, decisive energy of the house, translating their artful precision into a dynamic visual celebration of movement, discipline, and innovation.
















HOUSE OF LABEIJA

For House of LaBeija, I aimed to embody the timeless elegance and regal presence that defined its storied legacy. The design marries classic luxury with contemporary vibrancy. Intricate typography and refined textures harmonize to tell the story of a house that revolutionized ballroom culture, celebrating resilience, glamour, and a legacy of unyielding pride.














HOUSE OF XTRAVAGANZA

The visual approach for House of Extravaganza fuses minimalistic imperial grandeur with vibrant Latin energy. This design pays homage to the house’s dynamic cultural roots and its influential role in championing self-expression and audacious creativity.
